Oh yeah, they're way similar. Thing is though Light lost himself when it was all said and done, Lelouch didn't. I mean their personalites and such.

Ohhh, my fault. xD I didn't understand, my bad.

Anyway, well... There's some animes that have twists and makes you think all the time, like Higurashi (When They Cry), but it's pretty violent. Haha.

I just meant in general. xD And yeah, I was LM (Lightning Master). Anyway...

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni takes place during June 1983, at a fictional rural village called Hinamizawa which has a population of approximately 2,000. The main character, Keiichi Maebara, moves to Hinamizawa and befriends his new classmates Rena Ryuugu, Mion Sonozaki, Rika Furude, and Satoko Hojo. Keiichi joins their after-school club activities, which consist mostly of card and board games (and punishment games for the loser, usually him.) Hinamizawa appears to be a normal, peaceful, rural village to Keiichi. However, the tranquility abruptly ends after the annual Watanagashi Festival, a celebration to commemorate and give thanks to the local god, Oyashiro. Keiichi learns that every year for the past four years, one person has been murdered and another has gone missing on the day of the Watanagashi Festival. Keiichi himself soon becomes drawn into the strange events surrounding the Watanagashi Festival and Oyashiro. In each story arc, he or one of his friends become paranoid, and a crime is committed. Usually, the crime involves the murder of one of their own friends. While it seems impossible to tell their delusions apart from the mystery of Hinamizawa, slowly the truth is revealed.

Copy & Paste FTW. It's a bit vague, and you'll probably be confused alot the first season (I was).

Pffft, the gore in that's got nothing on some of the more ****ed up animes/mangas out there. Though Higurashi is fairly more sadistic.

Anyways, something similar to those two? Well, there's this one particular Manga series that I often find myself comparing to with Death Note. It's called Mirai Nikki (Future Diary).

Here's a quote from some guy talking about the series. Basically sums up what I have to say.

Quote:
"This is yet another one of those random manga series that I picked up a couple of months ago. I knew absolutely nothing about it back then, and the only factor which I took into consideration when I decided to start on the series was the title. The Future Diary sounds like it contains a sensational supernatural plot about predicting the future.

It turned out that the plot was had a portion of cross-mix between bits of Battle Royale and Death Note. Why so?

There are 12 contestants in a game of survival organised by a god named Deus Ex Machina. I think his name is blandly common, and common names are retarded, but that’s not the point here. Anyway, all 12 of these contestants are each given a diary with varying capabilities to predict the future. The main plot revolves around how the 12 go about eliminating each other by destroying the other diaries or killing the diary owner. The last one left standing will take the dying Deus’ position as a god.

That explains the Battle Royale portion. What about the Death Note part?

There certainly isn’t any way for the chosen 12 to kill each other just by writing names and remembering faces into notebooks. What’s similar is how they have to search through the fog and identify who the other diary users are. This is very much like how Light and L tried to uncover their respective opponents’ identity through various mind games. However, Death Note puts Mirai Nikki to shame in this aspect as there aren’t actually any mind games used in Mirai Nikki. At least none that appears to be. Instead, the diary is heavily relied on.

One recurring theme is trust and betrayal. The plot has quite a number of sudden twists in a mere 30 chapters, with characters appearing the most trustworthy unexpectedly backstabbing their allies. This adds to the thrill and drama of the story, which is the reason why I enjoy it."

This is one of the very few manga series I've gotten into. It's pretty neat and unusual in my opinion. My major complaint? Main character sucks ass.. I'd perfer if it was someone with.. a massive ego or something, I dunno. More robust? It'd be pretty amazing if someone like Light Yagami had a Future Diary.

With that said, the character who practically steals the show is the pink haired heroine psycho.
