Pokemon Virus!!!

I have all the pokemon games and there is nothing about them that i don't know, but something happened today on Pokemon Crystal that stumped me completely!! I was in Mahogany town,i and just defeated the Gym Leader, and was on my way to heal my Pokemon when i got a phone call from Prof.Elm,he was talking about a pokemon virus that was going around,called POKERUS.I didn't think much of it until i went into the pokemon centre and when i tried to heal my Pokemon the nurse said something like,healing them will not cure the virus. So i healed them and when i went outside, i looked at their stats and they all said that they have POKERUS. It doesnt affect them in battle or anything, they can still get parilyzed and stuff,but i'm in Kanto now and they all still have it? Any suggestions,or has it happened to anyone else?

This happened to me once. I was in Cinnabar Island, in Gold Version. I was going to heal my Pokémon, when the nurse said something she had never said before (well, I wasn't looking at the screen, I just read something about a virus). Foolish me thinking if I turned off the game and talked to her again, she would say the same thing so I could know what she said this time. But, it didn't happen. About a few months later, I saw this over all kinds of forums. I was surprised... Well, it turns out that this is very rare. There is a 1 in a 1,000 of one of your Pokémon getting the Poké 'R' Us. All I know is that the Stats you gain are much higher (i.e. Instead of increasing your HP by 4, it will increase by 5). That's one theory, some others say the Experience you get from battling is doubled. If you would like your other Pokémon to get the Virus, put it in a Box and then put all the Pokémon you want infected in there. All the Pokémon will then be infected. Your Pokémon will eventually be cured, but I doubt it now you want them cured.

It's very rare... So don't hope to get it. Changes are 10,000 to 1. You get it by walking around, there is truly no way. I'ts just very random.

Like I said... It's extremely rare. Not all games carry it, though. I know for a fact my Gold version does, since I got it once, and only once.
