eh....

It is still a personal computer (PC) but it does not have anything to do with Windows. It is a totally different type of system. You can still do most of the same things just different programs. It isn't as easy to build you own either. Some of the parts are different, in fact I think all of them besides the hard drive. Some of them even have the computer built right into the screen. Apple computers are also more expensive then windows based machines.

Most people that use apple machines are hardcore users and only want to use Apple computers, however they are not really used. More people have windows based systems. Examples of this is Dell, Gateway, etc... Only Apple makes the Macintosh computers.

I hope that clears up something or gives you a little insight.

Yeah, I think thats why most people tend to gravitate towards the PC. It has so many more programs. But the mac is getting more...

With Windows XP that has really changed. XP is very good and stable... Hence no more blue screen of death. So you really can't say that any more.

eh...

Yeah, what about it?

It is an option but it is kinda free, doesn't come on any computers automatically. And isn't in the mainstream.... So yeah....

But it is a choice, just like Lindows....

Just to metion that I actually didn't post 4 times in a row up there. I don't know how it exactly got like that.

hmm

http://www.apple.com/
is the correct address. the mac.com address is just Apple Computer Company's internet features page.

Ok, so number 1: Macs are just as easy to build as Windows-based PCs.
2: None of the parts are different
3: More Windows-based PCs are all-in-one units than Apple. ("computer built into screen...")
4: Apple computers are not more expensive than Windows boxes. Not at all.
5: Correct. Apple Computer Company (stock ID: APPL) holds a smaller market share than Microsoft. However, if you combine the different Linux, UNIX, Lindows, and Macintosh systems, Windows isn't a monopoly after all.
6: There have always been Mac clones made by other companies.

I never like to get too deep into the PC/Mac debate, so that's why I didn't go any further into my answers.

Oh, and yes, PC stands for Personal Computer, a term coined by Steve Jobs in 1985 during the Ridley Scott-directed Macintosh commercial. "PC" is kinda like all the other stuff Apple invented or got to work, like Firewire (IEEE1394), Airport (80211g), Airport Extreme (80211b?), icons, windows, desktop interface, computer mouse, plug n' play, USB, DVD writer drives, etc.
They all end up being associated with the Windows world! But, hey if Steve Jobs himself thinks it's cool when that happens (and he does), then so do I!
